Short description
The book deals with philosophical problems posed by the existence of literature and to a certain extent with philosophical interpretation of literary works.. The introductory chapter deals with language, metaphor and the production of meaning, followed by a survey of the history of the concept of literature and the system of art. The second part explains different views on the connection of literature and the so-called real and the third part explores the function of fiction: of the apparently functionless. The fourth part compares images, sounds and words. The conclusion points to the common root of philosophy and literature.
